Villa Gesell] is a beach city in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina.

Once an "Argentinian hippie" resort, now a popular and noisy youth place. Nevertheless, it has kept some charm.

Get in[edit]

Trenes Argentinos runs a daily train from the town of General Guido, the train is timed to connect with trains operating between Mar del Plata and Buenos Aires. The station is located in nearby town of Pinamar.

There´s a choral festival in January, which takes place in the Pinar, the pine woods.

  • You can eat at Carlitos, the King of the Pancakes (be sure to go to the "Real Carlitos", which is called "El Amanecer de Carlitos y sus hijos"; a legal fight ended with the original Carlitos losing his original name). A great variety of pancakes, from honey and white cheese to salted pancakes, like the rochefort and avocado pancake. And don't forget the dulce de leche pancakes.
  • You also can eat at the Pasteleria Holandesa, a charming old Dutch restaurant lost in the sand streets, where you can take a hearty breakfast which includes fruit salad and a fried egg.

  • Residencial Viya, Avenida 5 number 582, (02255) 462757. A very nice and quite cheap place, near the beach and the downtown. The owners are very friendly and kind.
