Wikivoyage:Region article status

From Wikivoyage

This page describes the criteria for determining the article status of Region, State, Continent, and Continental Section guide articles. The criteria for Wikivoyage:Country guide status are similar but not identical.

Status Name Description
1 Stub An article with little or no information, or not formatted even close to the manual of style. An otherwise-valid article without an article skeleton template may hold this status briefly; adding an appropriate skeleton promotes the article to "outline". A page which has little or no prospect of becoming an article (or being redirected to an article) would be tagged for speedy {{delete}} or nominated for {{vfd}} if what little information it conveys does not meet Wikivoyage's goals.
2 Outline Has at least the normal introductory paragraph (this can be as short as a single sentence describing where it is, in which country) and a template outline laid out for the article. Some of the sections of the template may have content, but not all of them.
3 Usable Has links to the region's major cities and other destinations (the most important of which must be at usable status or better), and a Get in section describing all of the typical ways to get there. The most prominent attractions are identified with directions.
4 Guide Gives you different choices for which linked destinations (i.e., the 5 to 9 item cities, subregions, and other destinations lists) to visit (all usable status or better), and information on multiple attractions and things to do. Listings and layout closely match the manual of style, and all the standard sections have well-developed prose. All important ways to get in are detailed, along with some suggestions for where to go next, with one-liner descriptions, and thorough information on getting around. At least 2–3 good-quality photos accompany the article; preferably showing famous or important attractions. Should have a custom page-banner.
5 Star Has a tourist-style map showing all the listed linked cities, subregions, and other destinations (all guide status or better) and routes between them. The format either matches the manual of style exactly or is the exception that proves the rule. Prose is not only near-perfect grammatically but also tight, effective, and enjoyable. The article is well illustrated throughout with high quality photos.
