Zhangjiakou (张家口; Zhāngjiākǒu) is a city in Hebei. It will host some of the events in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Get in[edit]

By plane[edit]

By road[edit]

It is connected to Beijing, the rest of Hebei and Shanxi by the Xuanda and Jingzhang expressways, and Inner Mongolia by National Highway 207.

By rail[edit]

Eventually, a high speed line to Beijing will be finished for the 2022 Winter Olympics, with a plan to build another one to Hohhot. Until then, trains only come via the Beijing–Baotou conventional railway. While Zhangjiakounan (Zhangjiakou South) is closed for renovations to accommodate the new high speed lines, passengers must get off at Shalingzixi (Shalingzi West).

Get around[edit]

  • Dajing Gate. A gate in the Great Wall, famous for its dangerous terrain. In ancient China, Zhangjiakou was a ghetto of several ethnic groups near the Mongolia Grassland, a place of military importance. It also plays an important part in the transportation and trade between Han and Mongolia people. The unique geographical location turns to beautiful landscape. Man of letters in ancient times were attracted to the gate.
