Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel is in Saxon Switzerland, Germany.

Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel is a spa and health resort town surrounded by forests in the Gottleuba Valley. Its modern name is taken from two historic settlements, both located on the river Gottleuba; Bad Gottleuba is further south, and Berggießhübel is to the north.

Get in[edit]

Local bus route 219 serves both Berggießhübel and Bad Gottleuba from Pirna, which is well-connected to Dresden by S-bahn and regional trains. The trip from Pirna is about 20 minutes.

By car, the area is a short distance from the A 17 motorway between Dresden and Prague.

  • Hike the surrounding forests. Several hiking routes lead to panoramic view points, monuments and remnants of history. Guided hikes take place regularly, and add experiences such as herb collecting, medicinal plants, geology, or a night-time hike with flashlights and a fire bowl. Schedules are available from the information centre in Berggießhübel.
  • 1 Marie Louise Stolln Visitor Mine (Besucherbergwerk), +49 35023 52980, . Closed Wednesdays. An iron ore mine from 1726 to 1926, with an underground lake open for guided tours and special events. Activities for children (from 5 years) are available. Tours are in German, with information available in English. Reservations recommended. Adults €12, children €10, family 39.
