Haderslev is a town in South Jutland, Denmark, deep in an East Jutland fjord on the Baltic coast. It is known for its cathedral and its historic centre.

Understand

[edit]
Haderslev Cathedral

Haderslev emerged in the 1100s as a trading post. It was a prolific trading port for centuries, and became a regional religious center in medieval times, with its old cathedral dating back to the 1200s.

Today, Haderslev is a regional centre for the Danish military and state administration, both very important local employers. Trade and industry are in decline, but agriculture and related food industry are still important employers, though; the two local estates of Nybøl and Gram Castle are major agricultural producers from the town's large hinterland.
