Jiri is a town in the Middle Hills region of Nepal, and the nearest roadhead for trekkers heading to Everest Base Camp.
Understand
[edit]Jiri has no outstanding attractions, and as the bus from Kathmandu usually arrives in the early evening and most trekkers set out for the first day of their trek just after sun rise, many people spend their time here. Jiri is an amazing place to visit.
As it is about a five-day trek to Namche Bazaar, which many consider as the gateway to the Everest Region, only a small percentage of trekkers heading to Everest Base Camp begin their journey here, with most preferring to fly to Lukla, a two-day walk to Namche.
