Monguí is a village in the Boyacá department of Colombia.

Understand[edit]

Founded in 1601, Monguí is a small village high in the Andes that preserves most of its original colonial architecture. The whole village is a national heritage site officially recognised and protected by the national government. Monguí was also officially awarded the title of "Boyacá's most beautiful town" in 1980. The village is known for its impressive 17th-century Basilica and Franciscan convent, some of the finest examples of Spanish colonial architecture in the country. The Ocetá and Siscunsí páramos are easily accessed from Monguí.
