[edit]Richfield, population 8,200 (2020), is a city in and the county seat of Sevier County and is the largest city in southern-central Utah. The county can be best described as "rural diversified" due to the convergence of agricultural, retail and industrial activities. Richfield has developed as a regional tourist center because it is located on the interstate freeway about halfway between Los Angeles and Denver, attracting many automobile travelers who stop at the city.
Richfield is remote from larger cities, about 100 miles or more in any direction from more populous towns such as Salt Lake City, while dozens of smaller communities are found in the general area. Its remoteness, plus its location on major transportation corridors, makes it central Utah's de facto regional capital, a shopping and "commercial capital of a vast mountain-valley region."

Richfield is located at the junction of Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 89. It is approximately 40 miles northeast of Interstate 15.

It was established to preserve and interpret the artifacts and archaeological sites of the Fremont culture, a prehistoric Native American group that inhabited the region from approximately 300 to 1300 AD.
- 2 Old Lime Kiln. Just north of Richfield, take a short hike up to a well-preserved lime kiln from the 1800s, passing an old water wheel and Sevier County’s first jail on the way. The limestone was quarried from nearby mountains, melted in the kiln, and cooled to leave a white powder behind. The lime powder was used in brick-making, mortar, and plaster for homes, churches and schools.
