  • 1 Dinosaur State Park, 400 West Street, +1 860 529-8423. One of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America. A great field trip destination for elementary, middle, and high school aged children, as well any college or university geology classes. A guided tour is provided that ends in the gift shop where one can find "dinosaur dig" kits in which one can recreate what the founders of the museum had done in finding the dinosaur remains. It also contains walking trails for individuals and/or families fully equip with picnic areas. The trails go through scenic forest areas, up and down hills with magnificent views, through a swampy area, a bat house cove, and a butterfly garden. One is able to see dozens of wildlife species throughout the paths during any season. As a warning, the lowest level area trails often flood during heavy rainfall periods, which can significantly reduce the available walking path during a given time.
