Villa Carlos Paz is a tourist city in the northwest of the province of Cordoba Province, Argentina, in the region of the Sierras de Cordoba, more precisely in Puntilla Valley, along Don Roque dam. It is the most important tourist center in the province.

Weather[edit]

The weather is generally pleasant. It is hot during the day and warm at night. In January and February, the city is full of tourists so if you want to avoid the crowds, you should visit in December or March.

Get in[edit]

Carlos Paz is 40 minutes by car from Cordoba capital and other major tourist towns such as Cosquin, Tanti or Alta Gracia.

There is also public and private transportation to get there from route 20.

It is a great place for relaxing, you can enjoy the peacefulness of the river and nature of the mountains.

You can go to the mountains and enjoy a beautiful complex of chairlifts. Once you're up, you can buy a picture of yourself in the chairlifts, enjoy the cafeteria, go to the train in the mountain, do archery, buy souvenirs, and many other fun activities.

You can also enjoy a good theater show in the city.

The city is known for its beautiful landscapes and attractions, such as water sports on lake San Roque, which has a recreational area; the Cuckoo Clock; the chairlift to Cerro “La Cruz”; lots of theatres; rallies; casinos and several nightclubs, which over time have become emblems of the city.

There are also other places to visit in Carlos Paz, like the Embudo. This magnificent work has also become a symbol of the city. The San Roque dam has been described as “the largest in the world” since its inauguration in 1980, due to the capacity of its reservoir, which holds up to 250 million cubic meters of water. There is also a museum of tractors. This houses over 250 machines and it exhibits models produced between 1880 and 1950. The first 4 by 4 tractor invented in the world is on display here.

Siquin Villa park is 17 km from Carlos Paz. This is a permanent attraction for student groups from different places in the country.

Ground station Bosque Alegre is on route 14, heading to San Antonio de Arredondo, through the chapel and convent of St Francis the Assisi. From there you can take a mountain road to a modern and important observatory.

At the end of your holidays don’t forget to bring home, among various possible souvenirs, the famous “alfajores serranos”, which are a true delight.
