Avudaiyarkoil is a city in the Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu, in India.

The nearest airport is Trichi's Tiruchirapally Civil (TRZ IATA). Pudukkotai is about 50 km from Trichi. Regular bus services are there from Trichi to Pudukkottai. Since 2008, Tiruchirappalli became a convenient low-cost entry point to India from South-East Asia (or vice versa), as AirAsia started to fly here from Kuala Lumpur. Tickets booked in advance cost around ₹3,000 (US$60, for a 4 hr flight), but can be well below ₹2,000 during frequent sales. This is quite a good option even if you fly from Thailand to South India. Singapore based LCC (Low Cost Carrier) Scoot Tigerair provides a service from Singapore 4 times weekly. Air India Express LCC flies to and from Dubai, Kuala Lumbur, Singapore daily and Abu Dhabi weekly twice. Air India Express also operates a daily domestic service to Chennai and weekly service to Mumbai. Sri Lankan airlines gives connection to rest of the world through Coloumbo as transit point.

  • Avudaiyarkoil - This is the most ornate temple in the district full of bursting barogue sculptures, the temple of Athmanatha. It is called Thirupperundurai in inscriptions and intimately associated with Siva saint Manickavasakar. The sacred book Saivism, Thiruvasakam of Manickavasakar originated from this shrine. The God is worshiped formless and no images in the sacnithanam. The utsavamurti of the temple is Manikkavasakar. The mandapams are full breathtaking sculptures, a variateble gallery of sculptures. Avudaiyarkoil is 49 km from Pudukkottai.
