Pateros is a town, the lone municipality in Metro Manila, known for its balut and duck eggs.

Understand

[edit]

Pateros gets is name from Spanish patero, or duck raiser; the town historically relied on duck raising as a major source of income.

The town is densely populated, with 63,000 people sandwiched in 1.76 km2 (0.68 sq mi) of land. It is surrounded by Makati and Taguig. Pateros also holds a claim on the disputed Fort Bonifacio area.

The town of Pateros in Washington state, United States, is named after this town.
