Strömstad is a city in Bohuslän on the west coast of Sweden, close to the Norwegian border. While only home of 6000 people, it is for historical reasons often referred to as a city. Strömstad is a fishing town and a popular holiday destination. In the fish shops along the quayside you can eat fresh shrimp and fish. In the area, there are a number of prehistoric monuments, among which stone rings, stone ships, rock carvings, burial mounds, etc.

Get in

By bus

Timeekspressen has 6 daily departures to Oslo, leaving on top of the hour, every two hours between 8 and 16. Swebusexpress buses also stops here on their Göteborg - Oslo route.

By train

There is about 4-5 daily departures to Göteborg by Västtrafik. In the summer the Swedish Railways (SJ) runs a X2000 express train to Stockholm twice a day.

By ferry

There are several ferry's every day across the outflow of the Oslo fjord to Sandefjord in Norway with a Color line ferry. The previous connection to Langesund was discontinued in December 2008.

The inner city is small, so walking is recommended. Västtrafik organises local buses.
