Glenridding is a village at the southern end of Ullswater, in the English Lake District. The village is popular with mountain walkers who can scale England's third-highest mountain, Helvellyn, and many other challenging peaks from there.

The A592 runs through the village. It runs north towards J40 of the M6. It runs south, over Kirkstone Pass, to Windermere.

508 runs between Penrith & Windermere.

Do

  • Ullswater Steamers, The Pier Hoyse, +44 1768482229. A boat company that provides leisure trips year-round on Ullswater to connect with famous walking routes. It operates five diesel-powered vessels between four locations on the lake. The oldest boat in its fleet was launched in 1877. One-way and return fares: adult £10/15, child 3-7 £6-9, family rates available.
  • On Easter Monday, a duck race is organised by the local mountain rescue team to raise funds.
  • In September the Helvellyn Triathlon is held at Jenkins' Field by the shores of Ullswater, one of the toughest triathlon in the UK.
