Achill Island is the largest island off the west coast of Ireland. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge at Achill Sound.

The main villages of Achill are (from the west) Dooagh, Pollagh, Keel, Dookinella, The Valley, Bunacurry, Cashel, Dooega, Saula, Ashleam, Dereens, Cloughmore, Achill Sound and Currane.

Achill is an island but is connected to the mainland of Ireland by a bridge at Achill Sound. The bridge spans about 100 metres and allows two lanes of traffic to pass onto the island.

You can get to Achill by car or bus. Two buses a day leave from Westport to Achill and back.
