Barker is a small, sleepy town of about 533 people in Niagara County, New York. It's one of the villages and hamlets that together make up Somerset, a rural community on the south side of Lake Ontario, some 45 minutes away from the famous Niagara Falls.

Get in[edit]

Barker is just over an hour's drive from both Buffalo and Rochester, the nearest major destinations. Somerset Road and NY 148 (Quaker Road) intersect in town.

  • David Barker Park, Main Str. and Quaker. Have a picnic in the village park. In summer, a farmer's market and other activities are held here. Check the agenda on the village website.

There are several places to eat in this small town. Most are rather casual in style.

  • The Lighthouse Grill, 9848 Lower Lake Road, +1 716 765-2939.
  • Watt's Landing, 8671 Lake Rd, +1 716 795-3259.
  • Barker's Restaurant, 1690 Quaker Road.

  • BlackBird Cider Works, 8503 Lower Lake Rd, +1 716-795-3580. Tasting room, orchard, and production facility for hard ciders-mostly apple, and a few pear ciders. Private tours of the orchard are available by appointment.
