Can Picafort (Ca'n Picafort) is a tourist resort in the northeast of Mallorca and belongs to the region Pla de Mallorca.

The town on the bay of Alcudia is completely designed for tourism. On the beach promenade there are many bars and restaurants, there is a shopping street for the day and a pedestrian zone for the evening. Only about halfway between Alcudia and Can Picafort, there is the possibility to lie on the long sandy beach of Alcúdia without all the hustle and bustle. Here you can have a family vacation in Mallorca. It is not as busy as the Playa de Palma, but it is also not desolate.
Get in[edit]
Can Picafort is accessible by public transport. However, the buses are oriented for the Mallorcans who need to go to work and back. The most important connection goes to Alcudia. From there, you can get to Palma de Mallorca via Inca.
Usually you will come to Can Picafort by transfer bus, because the village is mainly designed for tourists.
Get around[edit]
A rental car is always worth considering in Can Picafort. The two large supermarkets are located on the outskirts of town and are also easily accessible on foot (from the center of town about 15 min walk). In addition, the public transport is quite poor. The place is oriented towards beach vacations. If you want to experience something Mallorca, you should already have a car, at least for a few days.
One can rent bicycles for little money in the whole place. They have the best already behind them, but for an excursion they are certainly enough. Take plenty of drinks and you can explore the lonely coasts east of Can Picafort.

Buy[edit]
Can Picafort, of course, holds a shopping street for its tourists. Here you can buy the typical goods that you can always buy on the beaches of Spain. Souvenirs, fashion, sporting goods, etc.. In addition, the tour operators and banks have their offices here. Here you can rent cars and book excursions.
The shopping street runs parallel to the waterfront from the town center to the east. It is not a pedestrian zone, but the car drivers do not behave carelessly. One should pay attention to the scooter riders and drivers only. They are already a bit faster on the road compared to the cars.
There are also a lot of stores on the main street, which is only a through road. But also these stores want to make their money with the tourists. Besides normal goods, they also offer beach paraphernalia, cigarettes and liquor. Between these stores are also numerous bars that offer drinks for sometimes little money.
Then at the end of the main street there is a supermarket. This is where the locals shop. Here you have normal prices. It is like in a normal German supermarket, starting from the Euro coin for the shopping cart to the hassle at the checkout.

International cuisine is offered in many different restaurants. Can Picafort does not offer a real speciality. The cuisine is simple, the Spanish cuisine is very Andalusian, but also German and English cuisine is present. These are on the one hand fast food but also restaurants. Since the hotels of the place mostly offer half board, the number of restaurants is also quite small.
Drink[edit]
Countless restaurants, bars and pubs on the beach promenade open in the evening. In addition, there is a pedestrian zone that stretches from the beach to the main street. On the beach promenade and in the pedestrian zone all compatriots, who can be expected here, are also well looked after. One can divide the vacationers into three parts: Spaniards, English and Germans. For all of them there are pubs, bars and restaurants in the described area.
On the beach promenade one fights for the guests. In many places there is live music, shows or other attractions. There are gambling houses and animations. The place is designed for more mature people. You will not find a partying youth here. Rather adults who take some time off from their children.
The nice thing is that you can arrange your evening the way you want. You can go to the live music and dance, but you can sit quietly on the boardwalk, without the music, and chat.

Can Picafort offers a lot of hotels, all of which provide a usual standard for the vacationer. There are hotels in different classes, but all are designed for package tours. Many also offer a pool. In the summer, everything here is pretty booked, in the off-season you can always find accommodation. Many hotels are older and are among the construction sins of Mallorca. In the meantime, the new building regulations in Mallorca are also taking effect here. The newer buildings are much more attractive.
There are also some vacation homes for rent. A good part is rented from private. Here you can find a nice accommodation for little money. You just have to search a bit.
