Gedu is a town in Chhukha district. Originally developed to accommodate people working on the local hydroelectric plant, the town is now home to a small college. Clinging to the site of a hill, Gedu is best viewed from a distance at night when its harsh and uninspired architecture is softened by a ring of street lights. Visitors are unlikely to linger in Gedu, but as the largest center of population between Phuentsholing and Thimphu/Paro, it serves as a convenient place to take refreshment.

[edit]- 1 Wangkha Dam View Hotel, Near Chhukha hydro power plant. Serves good Bhutanese and Indian food in a really splendid location. They have not mentioned the Bhutanese dishes in the menu, but will serve if you tell them what you want. Do try the spicy Kuka here.
- Lhamu Restaurant. Bhutanese, Tibetan and Indian food. The ‘momo’ Dumplings with meat inside are touted as famous. It’s a good combo with the Bhutanese tea called ‘suja, which somehow tastes like a soup, but you will like it when you are out there in the cold Himalayan mountains.
