Gwoza is a town in Borno State in northeastern Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria near the border Cameroon.

In 2014, Boko Haram insurgents attacked Gwoza, and killed the traditional ruler, the Emir of Gwoza, andc300 villagers. From Aug 2014 to Mar 2015, the town of Gwoza was under the control of Boko Haram insurgents.
