Hwaseong (화성,華城) is in Gyeonggi province in South Korea.

Hwaseong is located in the southwestern part of Gyeonggi-do. The western region is predominantly rural and the eastern region is predominantly urban. Hwaseong City Hall is located in Namyang-eup. Jebudo island is part of Hwaseong.

In the city of Hwaseong, summer is warm, hot and rainy, winter is short, very cold, snowy and windy; and partly cloudy throughout the year. Throughout the year, the temperature typically varies from -7°C to 30°C, rarely below -13°C or above 33°C.

Based on tourist scores, the best time of the year to visit Hwaseong City for warm weather activities is from the end of May to early July and from mid-August to the end of September.

Gwangmyeong is served by two subway stations (on Line 1 and 7):

Hwaseong is served by three subway stations (on Line 1 and Suin-Bundang Line):

  • 1 Byeongjeom Station (Line 1) (병점역), Tteokjeongol-ro, 97.
  • 2 Eocheon Station (Suin-Bundang Line) (어천역), Hwaseong-ro, 2227-5.
  • 3 Yamok Station (Suin-Bundang Line) (야목역), Bonomaesong-ro, 286.
  • Seodongtan Station (Line 1) (서동탄역), Oesammi-ro 15beon-gil, 75-60 lat= 37.1957. Although Seodongtan Station is not in Hwaseong, it will be helpful as a reference because it is close to Hwaseong and was built by Hwaseong City.

  • From Gangnam Station, there are buses number 1006, 3102, 4403, 6001, 6002, 6004, 8501, 8502 go to Hwaseong.
  • From Yangjae Station, there are buses number G1003, 1551, G8157
  • From Sadang Station, there are buses number 1002, 1008, 7790, 8155, 8156
  • From Jamsil Station, there are buses number 1007, 1009, G6009
  • From Seoul Station, there is a bus number 4108.
  • From Seoul Nat'l Univ. of Education Station, there is a bus number 6008.

From Gyeonggi

  • From Pangyo Station, there is a bus number 6003.
  • From Indeogwon Station, there is a busmnumber 7200.
  • From Geumjeong Station, there is a bus number 8000.
