Ibi Local Government Area is in the southern part of Taraba State, bordering Benue State to the west and Adamawa State to the east. The headquarters of Ibi Local Government Area is located in the town of Ibi. The population of Ibi Local Government Area was approximately 133,000 people (in 2022). The area is inhabited by various ethnic groups.

The area was inhabited by various ethnic groups, including the Jibu, Kuteb, and Tiv. Ibi was a British colonial administrative district, with the town serving as the headquarters. Ibi became part of the then-Northern Region, later becoming part of Benue-Plateau State.

There is no airport in Potiskum or Yobe State, however, you can fly to Jalingo (JAL  IATA), the capital of Taraba State, from Abuja or Lagos.
