Igboho is a town in Oyo State, Nigeria. It is the headquarters of the Orelope Local Government Area. It has an estimated population of 200,000.

[edit]Igboho lies in fertile country of wooded savanna. It spreads over an extensive area, being surrounded by mud walls for protection from wars in those days. yams, cassava, maize, other fruits, and shea butter are the chief articles of trade. It is a key export location for tobacco, fruits, and kola nuts.
Igboho, like many other Yoruba towns and cities, is inhabited by Christians, Muslims and the adherents of African Traditional Religious belief.
History
[edit]Igboho was founded as the capital of the Oyo Empire in the 16th century after the Oyo had been driven from their previous capital of Oyo-Ile by Nupe enemies. It was created by Alaafin Eguguojo for its defences and high walls.

[edit]There is a limited number of local air flights to Ilorin from Abuja and Lagos by Overland and Capital Airlines. You can get a taxi to Igboho from Ilorin at a cheaper price than from Lagos.
By bus
[edit]You cannot get a direct bus to Igboho from major city or towns except in Oyo state and Kwara State.
Get around

[edit]The town has 2G|3G|4G telecommunication networks. All major service providers are operational, but they vary in reliability and ease of use. Its Signal strength usually fluctuates around the town, and some telecom operators in remote areas of the town may experience network outages. Like many other places in Nigeria, when planning a visit to Igboho, you will need to consider purchasing multiple SIM cards for every mobile operator. Networks of different providers tend to be more stable and reliable at different times in different parts of the town.
