Jinxian Gate in night

Jieyang (揭阳; Gêg⁴ion⁵ in Teochew, Jiēyáng in Mandarin) is a city in Guangdong Province in China.

The Rongcheng (榕城) district forms the downtown core of the prefecture-level city of Jieyang. In addition, Jieyang also administers the county-level city of Puning (普宁). Also under Jieyang's jurisdiction are the three counties of Jiedong (揭东), Jiexi (揭西) and Huilai (惠来).

Teochew is the main language spoken in Jieyang, though most people can speak Mandarin as well. English is, to cut a long story short, virtually non-existent.
