Saint Catherine of Alexandria Church

Kędzierzyn-Koźle is a town in the Opole Voivodeship in southern Poland. The town actually consists of two historical towns that got merged, being Kędzierzyn (Kandrzin in German) and Koźle (Cosel in German).

The nearest airports are in Wrocław and Katowice.

By train

From Gliwice or Opole. The 1 Kędzierzyn-Koźle Train Station from 1845 is by size one of the biggest in the Opole Voivodeship.

Koźle

  • 1 Castle in Koźle. One of the most interesting sights in Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
  • 2 Koźle Market Square (Rynek). The center of the historical part of Koźle.
  • 3 Koźle Lock, Łukasiewicza. Built in 1830, with elements of a wooden predecessor from 1812, it was completely renovated after the flood in 1997. In the vicinity of the lock, there are picturesque boulevards on the Oder with bicycle and walking paths. There is also a nice bridge that allows to get to a small island in the middle of the river.
  • 4 Montalambert's Tower (Baszta Montalamberta), ul. Portowa. The unused remains of an impressive defence tower near Koźle.

Kędzierzyn

  • 5 St. Nicholas Church (Kościół św. Mikołaja), ul. Doktora Judyma 6. This brick gothic church was built between 1900 and 1902.
  • 6 War Cemetery of the Soviet Army.
