Melamadai is one of Tamil Nadu's finest tourist spots in Madurai Corporation. It is situated 5 km from Madurai Goddess Meenakshi Amman Temple. Melamadai is located in the Madurai District and is under the administrative control of Madurai Corporation. The Melamadai Vandiyur Lake is the best place in the area to admire the beauty of nature; the best season to view Melamadai Vandiyur Lake is October to January. Melamadai is also referred as "place of wonder, where the city & village join."
