Nagaon is a city in Assam, India.


Nagaon (previously Nowgong, Assamese: নগাঁও) is a city in Nagaon district in the Indian state of Assam. It is 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of Guwahati. It is the fifth largest city of Assam with a population of close to 150,000.

Mahamrityunjay Mandir, 18 km from Nagaon town, is famous for being world's tallest Shivlinga (phallus sculpture dedicated to the Hindu god, Shiva), at 126 feet tall. It is situated in Narkasur path, Puranigodan, Nagaon district.
