Namakkal is a small historic city in Tamil Nadu in Southern India.

Although a historic city, Namakkal is nowadays also famous for lorry body building and egg production.

Get in[edit]

Namakkal is 55 km from Salem on the Salem-Madurai highway. There are buses almost every minute from Salem to Naamakkal.

There are frequent buses from Erode also.

Namakkal is famous for the large Anjaneya statue temple. Lord Arthanarishwarer Temple is located in Thiruchengode which is under Naamakkal district. Kolli Hills is the most famous group of hills in Namakkal.
