New Glarus is located in central-southern Wisconsin, in rural Green County. It is known as America's "Little Switzerland". The City was founded by Swiss immigrants from Glarus canton in 1845.

Like the rest of the United States, English is the main language in New Glarus. However, a few elderly residents still speak a sadly now-moribund local dialect of Swiss-German.

New Glarus is located at the intersection of WI 39 and WI 69. It is only accessible by car and is roughly 45 minutes from both Madison and Freeport.

Being originally settled by Swiss-German immigrants, the local food in New Glarus is generally derived from Swiss-German cuisine. While you're here, be sure to try some Swiss-German staples such as rösti, kalberwurst, landjäger and spätzli.
