The mountains of the park

Pico Bonito National Park is located near La Ceiba in Caribbean Honduras. The park is renown for its diversity of bird species and is one of the best places in the world to view toucans and the lovely cotinga.

Get in[edit]

The park is only a short distance from La Ceiba and there are busses available. Alternatively, take a taxi.

Fees and permits[edit]

As of 2023, the fee to enter the park ranges from $8–10 USD depending on which entrance you take. (The price is far less for Honduran citizens.)

Get around[edit]

  • El Bejuco Falls After a challenging hike, take a dip in the swimming holes surrounding the falls.
  • Unbelievable Falls A moderate hike leads to this tiered waterfall and swimming hole.
  • Cascada Zacate It's just a short hike up to this waterfall. No swimming allowed though – the community downstream uses the water as their drinking supply.
