Wikivoyage:Country article status

This page describes the criteria for determining the article status of Country guide articles, which differ slightly from standard region article criteria.
Status | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Stub | An article with little or no information, or not formatted even close to the manual of style. An otherwise-valid article without an article skeleton template may hold this status briefly; adding an appropriate skeleton promotes the article to "outline". A page which has little or no prospect of becoming an article (or being redirected to an article) would be tagged for speedy {{delete}} or nominated for {{vfd}} if what little information it conveys does not meet Wikivoyage's goals. |
2 | Outline | Has at least the normal introductory paragraph (this can be as short as a single sentence describing where the country is) and a template outline laid out for the article. Some of the sections of the template may have content, but not necessarily all of them. |
3 | Usable | Has links to the country's major cities and other destinations (usable status or better), a valid regional structure, and a Get in section describing all of the typical ways to get there. Information about the country's currency, language, cuisine, and culture is included. The most prominent attractions are identified and their general position within the country is indicated. |
4 | Guide | Has links to the country's major cities and other destinations (usable status or better), a valid regional structure, and well developed prose in all the standard sections. All immediate subregions must be usable status or better. Layout closely matches the manual of style. All important ways to get in should be detailed, along with thorough information on getting around. At least 2–3 good-quality photos accompany the article; preferably showing famous or important attractions. Should have a custom page-banner. |
5 | Star | Has a tourist-style map showing all the linked destinations (i.e., cities, subregions, and other destinations lists) (guide status or better) and routes between them. The format either matches the manual of style exactly or is the exception that proves the rule. Prose is not only near-perfect grammatically but also tight, effective, and enjoyable. The article is well illustrated throughout with high quality photos. |
