Ronneby is a city in Blekinge.

Understand

Ronneby is regarded as "The Garden of Sweden". Long known as a spa town, it features some historical streets in the town centre, a series of ornate guest houses along the river, and the spectacular parkland of the Brunnspark.

Get in

Ronneby is about half an hour by train from Karlskrona on the line to Kristianstad and Malmö.

Get around

Walking is easiest, with the town centre just north of the station and the riverside stretching south to the Brunnspark.

Ronneby Munktrappan

• 1 Ronneby Brunnspark (walk south from the station along the river). Voted Sweden's most beautiful park in 2005 and Europe's 4th most beautiful park in 2006, the Brunnspark has a section of manicured lawns, flower beds, lakes, waterfalls and historic cafes, then a series of rocky hills and walking paths through dense forests. It is a great place for relaxing, picnicking, playing sports, or for exploring a Swedish forest. (updated May 2017)
• 2 Heliga Kors Kyrka (Holy Cross Church). 10:00-16:00. The white church, with the earliest sections from the 13th century, sits above the main square. If it is open, the interior is quite ornate, if not, visit in the evening when the sun streams down Kyrkogatan - a street of fine old wooden buildings - to light up the front of the church. • 3 Ronnebyån (the river). The tranquil river runs between the town and the Brunnspark until it reaches the sea a few kilometres south. The best place to view it is by walking south from the station to the Brunnspark, either on the station side of the river or on the Brunnsvägen on the west side - this west side street has a long line of the fine old wooden spa guest houses along with boats and small wharves. Eat

There are a limited numbers of restaurants in the town centre and a few near the Brunnspark that are best for sunny lunches or summer weekends. There is a Willy's supermarket in town for picnic supplies.

• 1 Äggaboden. 11:00-17:00. Just east of Ronneby is this country restaurant in an old barn with views of fields and a reputation for quality produce. Frequent events for special days. From 100 kr. (updated May 2017)

Drink

The Systemsbolaget is near the north end of the town centre and has limited hours. Several bar/restaurants are on the main square.
