Rusinga Island is on Lake Victoria in Western Kenya. Like the waters surrounding it, Rusinga is a mellow and relaxed place.

Conveniently, Rusinga Island is connected to the town of Mbita Point by a causeway. Matatus (minibuses) from Homa Bay to Mbita Point take about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Kisumu, which takes about 5 hours.

- 1 Tom Mbyoa Mausoleum (Western side of the island). The burial ground of the Kenyan statesman Tom Mboya along with a small museum

- Beaches. Pleasant enough lakeside beaches. Plus you'll have swum in Lake Victoria.
- Rusinga Festival. Annual two-day celebration of the culture of the Abasuba people. Held on the last Thursday and Friday before Christmas.
