Shaktoolik is a very small village along Norton Sound. This community has been moved twice because of encroaching seas, a result of global warming that has melted a lot of Arctic ice.

Get in[edit]

You can get in via:

  • the Iditarod Trail
  • the Shaktoolik Airport, which is served by Bering Air to nearby communities and Nome, which is served by Alaska Airlines.

Get around[edit]

Go next[edit]

  • Ungalik, a place to stop if heading west on the Iditarod Trail
  • Unalakleet, a fairly large town by Arctic standards, if going east along the Iditarod Trail. This town is about 25 miles south-southeast of Shaktoolik.
This city travel guide to Shaktoolik is an outline and needs more content. It has a template, but there is not enough information present. Please plunge forward and help it grow!
