Somolu is a town of more than 400,000 people (2006) in Lagos City, South West Nigeria.

History

Somolu local government was formed May 27, 1976 from the former Mushin District Council as a direct result of the traditional rulers and upper class of the Somolu region lobbying for autonomy. It used to be named Mushin East Local Government Area.

Climate

The wet season is heavy while the dry season is sometimes cloudy, and it is hot and the weather is harsh all year round.

Get in

You can get into Somolu from any part of Lagos by taking a bus or BRT. You can also rent Uber or Bolt although their fees are higher, they would definitely take you to this part of Lagos.

Get around

You can easily move around Somolu and its environs via the public transport popularly known as 'Danfo', Motorcycles, small buses usually called 'Korope'. You need to have a tour guide or someone who knows the in and out of somolu to take you through your journey while you are in somolu. You also need to be conscious of the environment to avoid being harassed or you losing some of your valuables.
