  • St George Heritage Centre (in visitor centre). Located inside the shire's visitor centre, this heritage centre contains a great range of artifacts and old items used during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
  • Bowen Consolidated Colliery.
  • 1 Miniature Car Collection, Scott St, +61 7 4625 3636. A large collection of diecast cars. Entry to the venue is free, but a gold coin donation would usually be welcomed.

  • The St George Show is celebrated every year over the Labour Day long weekend (weekend of the first Monday in May), Everyone is encouraged to go and locals have a great time sharing stories at the bar and watching the rodeo.

St George is a rather disadvantaged town of outback Queensland which has over time lead to increased youth crime, especially around the main BP. You're unlikely to be able to avoid that BP since it is the biggest in town and you will need to refuel before leaving town; take extra precaution and stand your ground if provoked.
