Sylhet Division is one of eight divisions in Bangladesh.
- 1 Sylhet - the capital of the division
- 2 Sunamganj
- 3 Moulvibazar
- 4 Srimangal - the centre of the country's tea growing industry
- Tamabil - the border town for crossings to Dawki in India
During the Pakistan period, Sylhet Division was a district under the same name and was part of Chittagong Division then as one of four divisions of East Pakistan. This is the major tea-growing area of Bangladesh.
Bengali is the most widely spoken language, although many people speak English in the larger towns and cities. Sylheti is a related, but distinct language from Bengali and is also widely spoken in the Sylhet Division.
