Talk:Bossier City

It may make sense to make this page a redirect to Shreveport. Most visitors won't notice when they leave Shreveport and enter Bossier City, and the area is usually just referred to as Shreveport, even though most of the activities (casinos and racetrack) are in Bossier City. - First of all, how are people not noticing that they have to cross the Red River to get from Shreveport to Bossier City? I think they know when they're on a bridge. Second, according to Google Maps, at least Sam's Town Hotel and Casino is in fact in Shreveport, not Bossier City. I'm not personally familiar with either city, but since there's a major river separating them, it's not intuitively obvious to merge and redirect. Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:34, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
- It seems like it would be easier to create one decent page for both cities than separating them out. The river forms an obvious boundary between the two, but that administrative boundary is not really relevant from the perspective of a tourist. 6 of the casinos are within a mile of each other (2 in Shreveport, 4 in Bossier City), though most require getting in a car and driving to another one. So, the 800 ft wide river isn't really a big barrier. If you look at the Shreveport article, all the Bossier City attractions are already listed. Altaihunters (talk) 06:54, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
- No public transit in Shreveport? Well, my suggestion would be that if there ends up being a consensus behind the idea of merging Bossier City with Shreveport, it would be good to cover Bossier City in a separate section of the merged article. You should probably post to Requests for comment to try to rustle up some people who know the area well, though. I'm guessing User:Texugo might have an opinion, for example.
