Washington's poxy poop?[edit]

From Bridgetown#South_of_centre, describing the George Washington House:

The house backs onto that archaeologists' delight, a midden: the island's limestone gullies were long used as trash & dung heaps, so there's a rich mixture down there of Arawak fish-bone artefacts, plastic cups, broken buttons, and Washington's poxy poop

Interesting, though that poop probably has decomposed into other substances by now, more than a quarter-millenium later. Perhaps something else was meant? :)

Faecal material may be of historic and forensic value many centuries later, so that was indeed my meaning. Though in such a wet climate it would rapidly have dispersed, and that site has been examined and any genuinely interesting material recovered. I don't believe that the midden / gully connected to the later tunnels - now there is a major piece of research still needing to be done, because the "drainage" story doesn't stack up. Messy map[edit]

The city boundaries on the map are way wrong and frankly unnecessary to the traveler. I'm deleting them from the page but storing them here (not visible on standard page view) in case anyone wants to restore and amend them. Grahamsands (talk) 14:46, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
