Propose merger[edit]

The upper Clyde valley is scenic with several POIs but the villages are tiny and barely viable as pages. I've bulked up Carstairs by including the junction, state hospital, Carnwath and Forth. I now suggest grouping the villages at the top of the valley, to include Abington, Crawfordjohn, Douglas, Leadhills, Wanlockhead, and sundry others. The obvious name for the page is Abington as this is central and prominently signed on M74 towards Glasgow. The existing page of Douglas (Scotland) would be renamed and expanded. Graham, please can you clarify which articles you wish to merge. At a quick read, it looks like you want to merge Clydesdale into Abington. AlasdairW (talk) 23:30, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Heavens no. Douglas to rename as Abington, and that page also to include Crawfordjohn, Leadhills and Wanlockhead; all to be a "rural area" within Clydesdale. This takes care of several tiny places and also solves an irritation on the route boxes, which claim that M74 goes through Douglas. It obviously doesn't, but does go through Abington, a focal point prominently signed for its service station and junction. Grahamsands (talk) 10:30, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that is reasonable. AlasdairW (talk) 22:27, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
DONE and the entire region now looks high-grade usable. Grahamsands (talk) 22:25, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
