VFD discussion

[edit]

Per Project:What is an article?, this content should probably be merged to the appropriate city or region article, and the page turned into a redirect. But I'm not at all familiar with the area, so I'll leave this decision to the vfd page. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 18:48, 15 December 2008 (EST)

Hmm-m. I suspect the Dieng Plateau is better known under that name than the main town in the area, Wonosobo. It might make more sense to keep this article at Dieng Plateau and redirect Wonosobo there. (WT-en) Jpatokal 21:51, 15 December 2008 (EST)
Yes, especially since we do not yet have a Wonosobo article. (WT-en) Pashley 04:05, 16 December 2008 (EST)
  • Keep. This blog, by someone who's been there, implies that you can sleep there, although the "Franglish" is such that it's difficult to be sure. For probably the hundredth time, I say: we really need some new model for handling locales that are overwhelmingly rural, yet may have lodging, etc., outside the towns ("destinations") and interspersed among the boonies. -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 14:07, 30 December 2008 (EST)
[edit]

Here are a few propositions for a banner on the Dieng Plateau page. The fourth one is flipped horizontally for the clarity of the composition ( maybe it was not a smart move)

Mount Sindoro as seen from the Arjuna temples.
Arjuna temples in the middle of the Dieng ancient caldera
Arjuna temples and Mount Sindoro in the background

The 4th one also seems to show construction scaffolding. All the others are fine, but the 2nd is my favorite because it's a beautiful scene with a characteristic relic in it. The 1st banner is an excellent composition and shows a beautiful scene, but without visible relics, while the 3rd shows both relics and a view of the volcano, but is mostly foreground.
