The article keeps saying City of Fairfax
[edit source]This article keep capitalizing saying "City of Fairfax", and keep capitalizing "City" even when it's not part of phrase "City of Fairfax". Why? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 08:35, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- Because a lot of people violate the rules of English writing. "City" by itself as a rule does not get capitalized, and we even have a Wikivoyage:Capitalization page that states as much. "City of Fairfax" would be capitalized, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:25, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- That "capitalizing" in "This article keep capitalizing saying "City of Fairfax"" isn't supposed to be there. I meant to say "This article keeps saying "City of Fairfax"". Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 09:57, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- But as for why the article keeps saying "City of Fairfax": I think part of what's going on here is that when locals say "Fairfax": they're often referring to the county and not the city. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 21:45, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- That makes sense. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:28, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- But I think saying "City of Fairfax" over and over again is overkill. I think the context makes it pretty clear that we're talking about the city and not the county, even without a "City of". And if we want to talk about the county, we'll say "Fairfax County". Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 02:05, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'm going to go ahead and remove the "City of"'s, along with decapitating the "C" in the plain "City"'s. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 10:13, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
