Talk:Fort Myers

I would like to know why all of the images and most of the text for the Shell Factory was removed, along with the edit concerning safety, in the city of Fort Myers? If it was believed that the images of the Shell Factory may have been commercially motivated, that would be an incorrect assumption. However, at least the sign for the establishment would still be an impartial addition. The establishment is a legitimate tourist attraction and, unless the editor was biased, does not warrant removal. Additionally, if unbiased opinions are desired in these edited pages, then a statement that claims a certain part of a city is unsafe, should be less superior to one that offers a source for validation of such a claim, or not. The way to make this project a success is by providing references for stated claims. FreeSharer4 (talk) 23:49, 27 January 2013 (UTC)freeSharer4.[reply]

I have no idea on the photo, since I haven't not seen it. If the Shell Factory is a tourist attraction, that would be a good argument for its exemption from the policy against promoting businesses, and I would support its inclusion.
On your other point, if you would like Wikivoyage to change its policies against allowing links to secondary sources, please make your argument at Wikivoyage Talk:External links, where the policy can be discussed on a site-wide basis. Thanks a lot. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:01, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I just looked at the deleted photos (they can be seen in this version of the article: [1]). It's very clear why they were deleted: This article is about Fort Myers, not about one particular attraction that is also a store. There were 11 photos of the Shell Factory and 4 paragraphs plus references about it. Do you understand why it seemed so obvious this was promotional that another admin saw no need to even discuss it? Also, in my opinion, none of the photos is so noteworthy that it meets the test at the "Photos of businesses" section of Wikivoyage:Image policy. It's proper for there to be a reasonably brief "Buy" or perhaps "See" listing for this establishment, but I come down on the "No" side of arguments for images, at this point.
