What to do with this article

There is an unresolved discussion at Talk:Northern Vietnam. The bottom line is that this is a region article with no "Cities" section, a status treating it as a city article, and the region Ha Giang Province is part of (Northern Vietnam) has not been divided into any agreed-upon set of subregions, only this one because some enthusiastic new users decided to plunge forward - which is great but disregards the orderly structure we've agreed for years to use on this site. This situation is irregular and not the type of organization that's most likely to strike the reader as most helpful. A single hotel listed at the provincial level is not sufficient, nor are any restaurants or bars listed, but all of them should be listed in articles about cities (towns, etc.), not at the provincial level, anyway, unless a consensus develops to exceptionally treat this province as if it were a city. Would that be a good idea? How easy is it to get from one end of the province to another, and how far is it in kilometres? "Steep hills and winding roads" doesn't sound promising for treating the entire province as a single unit for the convenience of travellers. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:54, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

I've just added some content, but come to the same conclusion. I fear I've actually made things a bit worse! I do have some answers though -- the province can be traversed comfortably by motorbike in 3-5 days. A very common circuit for travelers is to do "the loop" around province on the major roads, so the province is viewed by many backpackers as a single "unit" of exploration, and they spend only night or two in Ha Giang city. I believe the city of Ha Giang proper is large enough that it warrants its own page. Well, this article did get changed into a city article. I think it's totally fine to add a listing or bullet point for the motorbike circuit. It's an excursion, but it starts and ends in Ha Giang City, right? It could be made into its own itinerary article if there's enough content for that. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:26, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
