Foraging and fishing

[edit]

We now say, in Eat and drink that

"The right to access also includes picking wild berries and mushrooms as well as fishing"

Are those unregulated? Can you fish with any methods anywhere? I doubt that, and to tell something is allowed without specifying limits is close to useless for cautious readers, while it encourages others to fish as they like, regardless of the unknown actual regulations. (I suppose risks to pick protected berries or mushrooms is much smaller.)

The Estonian State Forest Management Centre says one can "gather wild berries, mushrooms, flowers, herbs, hazelnuts, and other natural products, which are not protected under natural conservation laws. In a privately owned land, the owner may prohibit to pick forest products." and "fish with one simple handline on public waterbodies and waterbodies designated for public use." --Ypsilon (talk) 16:39, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
