Scope

[edit]

I tried to define the scope of this article in relation to Inari. I added a quadratic {{mapmask}} covering an area including Tolonen in the south-west and Akujärvi in the north-east, but excluding Keväjärvi and Koppelo, to leave the shores of Lake Inari for Inari. I don't know whether some other choice would be better.

Hammastunturi Wilderness Area, west of Tolonen, is mentioned as a Do. I suppose it could have its own article, but I have only been there once (I think) and cannot say I know it. While it, and the river Ivalonjoki, are closer to Ivalo than to Inari (as is Nellim, by road, covered in the latter), I am not sure that including them is a good choice.

I think the point of having this as a separate article is that it has an airport (and the road towards Raja-Jooseppi), and therefore is linked from many places. It is also a good waypoint on the E75 itinerary and the corresponding routeboxes (the distance between Saariselkä and Inari is 70 km). Those using Ivalo as a waypoint are hardly interested in its potential as base for exploring places such as Hammastunturi, Nellim or Vätsäri.

People who want to trek or otherwise visit the back of beyond can very well read about them in Inari, even when they are told there that they need to go via Ivalo, and Ivalo can be linked for the airport, healthcare centre etc.

That's my thoughts. Anybody?
