Is all of wikivoyage so unprofessional and middle-class-biased?

There are instances of "IMHO" and positive references to "serious drinking" as well as a negative bias toward the alternate lifestyles when travelling to one or more of the authors of this article.

wikivoyage should strive to be a serious, progressive travel guide like LonelyPlanet, not a MySpace for middle class westerners going to Africa to find cheap beer. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 82.7.74.130 (talk • contribs) 31 Dec 2006

I have to say i agree, having visited Kampala i don't feel this gives a proper view of the city and somewhat makes it less exciting than it actually is, the drinking section should be cleaned up too.(WT-en) Plokt 14:48, 2 June 2007 (EDT)

Subdivisions of "Sleep"

I greatly appreciate the additional content that's being added, but I very much question dividing sleep accommodations into US dollar-valued price categories. What's the advantage to using dollars, rather than Ugandan shillings? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:49, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Visa requirements

Shouldn't these be at Uganda#Get in, rather than here? I copy this below in case you all disagree, and also in case this is of use in any of several country-level articles:

You will be required to pay USD100 for the single entry visa, so it is better to get the 90-day East Africa multiple entry visa which also costs USD100 and lets you also visit Kenya and Rwanda as well as Uganda. So have the money ready in cash (USD or UK Pounds) to pay at passport control - they do not accept credit cards. In any case check whether a visa is required before arrival for your specific nationality. Normally you will need to show an international vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever, but this rule is not applied strictly.

Safe or unsafe to walk around at night?

I moved the parts of these edits that were put into "Understand" into "Stay safe". Now, look at the text of that section, with the preexisting text in bold and the interpolated new comments in italics:

Kampala is a relatively safe city. It is fairly safe to walk or take matatus around some areas at night, but don't take unnecessary chances. Kampala is not safe to walk around in after dark, especially if you are a white. It is assumed that all whites have money. It is also not safe to drive around, day or night, with your windows down or unlocked. Someone could reach in through the window and take your cell phone right out of your hand or open the door and take your laptop right off your lap.

So which one is true, or is it somewhere in the middle? We can't have directly self-contradicting text in our articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:32, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
