Too long and detailed

This is now the number one longest page on Wikivoyage, far longer than the number two page (some 80,000 bytes longer!) and almost five times longer than the next longest phrasebook. I think it has definitely crossed the line from phrasebook into textbook (including conversation practice), with so much stuff that a traveller would have to shuffle through 76 pages of the printed version to find the phrase they are looking for. The pronunciation section is massively long, loads of the given phrases are not travel oriented at all, with a tremendously long list of slang words for types of people and ridiculous things like:

• "As parents, we have provided you with the best possible education. The REST IS UP TO YOU."
• "The mischievous little girl RUBS her hands with mud and dirt. She then touches people who pass by."
• "You have your own car but your son came home in an auto-rickshaw. Does this LOOK GOOD? This does NOT LOOK GOOD."
• "I am fed up with life."

I'm going to start a massive cull of this nonsense, and I'd also like to hear some input about how much of that pronunciation section is really necessary. I'd say we don't need a complete course in written Kannada any more than we need to delve into kanji on the Japanese page or hanzi on the Chinese ones. Any comments? Even with the huge 91,000 byte cut below, the article is still the second longest thing we have, after China.(WT-en) Texugo 10:41, 19 December 2010 (EST)

I cut another 133,000 bytes out of it, so it has dropped down to 58th on the list of long pages, but it's still the longest phrasebook we have by far, and it still needs a great deal of clean-up, organization, and conversion to our usual phrasebook article template.(WT-en) texugo 04:01, 22 October 2011 (EDT)
