Is this its own article?
[edit]Or should it be merged with Gaithersburg? Let's face it, G'burg doesn't have much for the traveler, let alone a development inside the city. -- (WT-en) Jonboy 20:47, 17 December 2006 (EST)
- I am thinking keep. This is a neighborhood in Gaithersburg and there is a valid argument to merge. It could be a district, but I doubt that will happen for awhile with Gaithersburg. It appears to me this is a very interesting community that has things to offer that would require a separate article. As far as having things for the traveler, I am sure there are many travelers that would find a reason to travel to both Kentlands and Gaithersburg. Travelers have a way for finding reasons to go just about anywhere. I have added links to it and some content. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 07:30, 27 December 2006 (EST)
- I'd really like to merge this with Gaithersburg. It seems a bit much to me for a place with population < 60,000 to be subdivided. Given that there's not really a lot of content on the Gaithersburg page, a combined page would be much more reasonable. -- (WT-en) Jonboy 07:21, 28 December 2006 (EST)
- Create a sandbox of it, if you want to take the time. I would think at this point it would be better to work on content for Gaithersburg in lieu of deleting articles just to beef up another page. The Kentlands article looks rather nice and there are many examples of a higher level article that does not have anything close to lower level articles. So I don't buy the argument to merge because Gaithersburg is lite on content. But, that said... I can be swayed if I am shown how it would enhance Gaithersburg and still cover Kentlands. I will personally put some time in to add content to Gaithersburg if that would help you on the "lack of content" issue. I prefer that to merging or deleting articles. I am a little busy this morning, but will try to add some this afternoon to get Gaithersburg going. It seems we are the only people talking about this, so if I cannot sway you to my thinking, I will accept a merge and redirect. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 07:53, 28 December 2006 (EST)
- I appreciate your effort on Gaithersburg, but I may have gotten off topic with my "not really a lot of content" comment. If you look at Project:Geographical_hierarchy#Cities, it says "Some cities are just so big and so diverse that there's too much information to keep in one Wikivoyage article." Gaithersburg is not such a city. I don't think anywhere in Maryland outside of Baltimore is, frankly, and even that hasn't had districts created for it. So my complaint is more that it's violating the hierarchy than anything. (Even if it shouldn't be a redirect, it should be at Gaithersburg/Kentlands.) -- (WT-en) Jonboy 16:31, 28 December 2006 (EST)
- Okay, it is just you and I talking and we really are not going to change each others mind. If you really want it merged and deleted then I would say put a vfd on it. In the mean time while you discuss it with others I hope you don't mind if I continue to add to this article and Gaithersburg. If consensus is to delete then I will go along with that, but my vote is Keep..... The move to Gaithersburg/Kentlands does make some sense, but don't take that to mean I am proposing to do multiple districts for Gaithersburg at this time. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 16:56, 28 December 2006 (EST)
- OK, I did the vfd. We'll see what that leads to. -- (WT-en) Jonboy 17:47, 28 December 2006 (EST)

This is a subdivision in Gaithersburg, which is a town of <100K in Maryland, so I don't think it qualifies as a "huge city" with districts. I think the article violates the hierarchy rules.
- Redirect/merge -- I suggest it should be redirected to Gaithersburg. See Talk:Kentlands for the discussion (WT-en) Tom and I have had about this. Even if it were a district, it should be Gaithersburg/Kentlands. I feel weird putting something up for a vfd, and not voting delete, but this seemed to be the best way of resolving the disagreement. -- (WT-en) Jonboy 17:47, 28 December 2006 (EST)
- Redirect to Gaithersburg. Gaithersburg is a nice place, but it isn't exactly a huge city... -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 17:50, 28 December 2006 (EST)
- Redirect After sleeping on this one, you guys are right. I am proceeding to redirect this to Gaithersburg. That matches policy for this one. As previously argued Gaithersburg is not large enough article for districts and after thinking about it this would open a slippery slope for a lot of other locations. I am pretty sure we do not want to do that at this point. Maybe later, but a policy change on this now would likely open the gates too wide. If anyone want to argue the other way on this, please proceed, but I am good with the consensus to do a redirect. Any content is preserved on the redirect history and I do the work to merge it to Gaithersburg. Any, disagreement... do it now or this one is a speedy! -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 09:51, 29 December 2006 (EST)
