Rationale

Because many guidebooks predate the opening of the North Face Car Park they tend to recommend climbing Carn Mor Dearg from Glen Nevis via Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe; this itinerary describes a far superior route in keeping with the original. Munrogue (talk) 06:27, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Why a separate article from the existing Ben Nevis itinerary?

There is a proposal to merge this article in with the Tourist Route one. In my view this impractical suggestion would merely destroy the coherence of both, like trying to describe climbing Everest from Tibet and Nepal simultaneously. The two articles also serve different audiences, at least to a certain extent: this one is a tour of the rock architecture of the mountain, and passes by the summit almost incidentally. The other is aimed at the 100,000 people a year who go for the view and the tick. This ties-in with two stated principle goals of wikivoyage entries:

   Articles should be relatively self-sufficient so that travellers can print them out, put them in their back pocket, and use them for travelling around.
   At the same time, articles should not be so long that they're impossible to read, print, or use.

I do not really see how the two articles could usefully be combined, let alone for doing so to serve these goals better. Munrogue (talk) 22:52, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

@Texugo: This article was tagged for merging nearly one year ago, but I think the arguments above make a compelling case that it should not be merged. This article contains a level of detail about a specific route that might not make sense in the Ben Nevis article, and I'm not sure that it does any harm to have two separate articles when both are relatively complete. -- Ryan • (talk) • 16:36, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Map needed

The best way to improve this article further would be to add a finely-scaled map, but I'm stuck about how to do that. I'm prepared to go to quite some trouble to create a public-domain schema of the Nevis climbing face, but without basic cartographic data I can't think how to proceed.
