History[edit]

Should we add a history section to this page while citing the history section on the mars borough website? I haven't cited on wikivoyage and don't want to make this major edit without approval. DoggsWiki (talk) 12:57, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely think there should be an "Understand" section that explains the town's name. Any history that's included should be of interest to travelers and not encyclopedic. Citations should be made in your edit summaries in the "Summary:" box below your edit screen, not on the page, but I'd suggest summarizing and paraphrasing and not quoting, especially if your source does not have a Creative Commons license. In that case, I'm not exactly sure what counts as "encyclopedic". I believe most of the content on https://marsborough.com/history/ is encyclopedic other than the part explaining the town's name. Can I have quick confirmation on which parts of the article are encyclopedic and what is of actual touristic interest? DoggsWiki (talk) 20:51, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You could explain the name and do a very brief summary of the most interesting points that illustrate "How did all of this happen?" If I went through it and said which points I'd summarize, I'd have to do the summary myself. So go ahead and do it, keep it brief and to-the-point and interesting to read. Outskirts[edit]

Am I allowed to add destinations that are slightly outside the borders? There are 2 places that could go under the eat section but are slightly outside borough limits. Just a quick question I had. You can take a look for yourself. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mars,+PA+16046/@40.6921321,-80.0112514,16.51z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x88348606061457fd:0xd1a9027289f6b61!8m2!3d40.6958996!4d-80.0117254!16zL20vMHpucnI?entry=ttu DoggsWiki (talk) 15:06, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My immediate question would be whether those communities are covered by other articles. If not, sure you can add these listings, but one way to do that is to include those communities in toto in the coverage of this article and adding a note stating that in the lede. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:57, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the community that the listing belong to does not have a wiki page and is only mentioned in one article that I created. I believe that qualifies. In fact, I believe that the entirety of Adams Township could possibly be considered Mars as it all seems to have a "Martian" culture. For example, the schools in Adams Township are actually a part of the Mars school district. You could go as far to say that the entirety of the Mars School district could be considered as Mars. However, I will not stretch this claim too far as I have already created a page for one of the areas within the Mars School District (Middlesex Township). There's discussion at Talk:Middlesex township‎‎ about whether that article has a reason to exist, so please address whether there is anything to do, see, eat, drink, or buy there, beyond groceries at a 7-Eleven or something, on that page. Anyway, I'd say go ahead and add the "Eat" listings. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:44, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Guide Status[edit]

I really hope that one day, I can get this page Guide status so I could recommend it as the possible OtBP. I think it would have a real chance due to its general quirkiness. Do you think it would be possible? DoggsWiki (talk) 14:27, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's looking a lot better. Sure, almost anyplace can have a guide-level article. Childs is a tiny hamlet that even has a star-level article! Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:05, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
